We seek a Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer looking for an exciting role in a small, expanding Cambridge based civil engineering consultancy.
Civilistix is a small, modern, and forward-thinking civil engineering consultancy based in Cambridge which due to an exciting period of growth, is now seeking a Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer to join the team.
The business is involved with design of all types of civil engineering infrastructure relating to highways and drainage, undertaking pre-planning reports such as flood risk assessments, to detailed design of highway and drainage networks.
We are looking for;
The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a UK consultancy office undertaking a highway and drainage design role.
The candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills with an overarching technical mindset and be comfortable working on projects of all sizes.
The candidate will be expected to be able to check their own work at times and of others and take the lead preparing planning reports such as Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies, working closely with clients to ensure projects are delivered to their expectations in terms of quality time and budget.
We are looking for a candidate who is open minded, has a can-do attitude and has experience carrying out the following key tasks;
Preparation of compliant surface water and sustainable urban drainage strategy reports to support planning applications.
Preparation of compliant flood risk assessment reports to support planning applications.
Preparation of compliant utility assessment reports to support planning applications.
Preparation of compliant private and adoptable (S104 of the Water Industry Act 1991) drainage designs for technical approval and construction.
Preparation of compliant private and adoptable (S38 / S278 of the Highways Act 1980) highway designs for technical approval and construction.
Undertake dialogue, correspondence, and negotiation with relevant third-party stakeholders (such as the Lead Local Flood Authority, Highway Departments, Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards, Statutory Undertakers, and the like) in relation to obtaining drainage and highway consents and approvals.
Undertake Autocad and 3D drafting / modelling in relation to highway and drainage projects in an efficient and timely manner.
Attending site and design team meetings as necessary to support projects.
Obtaining third-party quotations, advice, and input as necessary to support projects.
Preparation of fee proposals / tenders to support the acquisition of new work
Undertake business development as necessary to support and acquire new business relationships.
Qualifications/ Software skills
Competent and highly efficient in the use of AutoCAD
Competent in the use of all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
Will ideally hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related subject
Site 3D / Causeway Flow experience would be advantageous
A member of the Institute of Civil Engineers would be advantageous
A valid UK driving license
