The brief

What we did

Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to prepare a detailed surface and foul water drainage strategy (RIBA 2/3) for a development of 9 residential plots and associated external hardstanding areas.

We proposed that the buildings would drain via a piped network to a geo-cellular storage tank located underneath the private access road, before being releases via a hydro-brake flow control to a combined drainage manhole.  This would control the flows to 2.0 l/s for all storm events up to and including the critical 100 year plus 40% climate change event.

We proposed green roofs to all dwelling roof areas to provide interception storage. This would slow down and provide treatment to the runoff, thereby significantly reducing the total volume of runoff entering to public sewer.

It was proposed that all foul water flows from the development would gravitate to a manhole onsite before being connected to the existing Anglian Water foul water manhole.
