The brief

Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to prepare a detailed drainage and external hardstanding engineering package as part of the plans for a prestigious mansion, consisting of 4 stories and associated external hardstanding area.

What we did

Our fully coordinated drainage solution utilised a pumped approach to both surface and foul water.  This was due to the fact that all foul outlets and rainwater pipes were collected at lower ground level, while the existing demarcation chambers were located at high ground level.

Making use of the space we had available, our SuDS strategy utilised permeable paving for runoff treatment of the high-level garden access area.  This runoff discharged to a proposed geo-cellular storage tank at a lower level, at a runoff rate of 2.8l/s.

Our fully coordinated external works package included level design, kerb layout design and full depth construction details for the proposed hardstanding area. Due to a difference of more than 4 meters between the front and back yard, a garden ramped access was proposed on the East side of the mansion and a stepped approach was proposed for the West side of the mansion.  All design work was in line with current Building Regulations.

We worked in close collaboration with other design teams to deliver a fully coordinated proposed external works and drainage detailed design solution for the client.
