• S185 Sewer Diversion Design Package

The brief

Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to prepare a sewer diversion package under S185 of the Water Industry Act 1991 which diverted an existing foul water sewer around a proposed residential development.

What we did

We initially specified a scope for a CCTV drainage survey to understand the extent and levels of the existing public drainage infrastructure within vicinity of the site.

Due to the location of the proposed building footprint with regards to the existing sewers, progressing a build over agreement with the sewerage undertaker was not acceptable in this instance and we therefore progressed with a full diversion under S185.

We progressed our design in full accordance with sewers for adoption design standards. Further to ensuring our proposed sewer diversion had sufficient easement to the proposed building footprint, we also hydraulically modelled the sewer section to ensure self-cleansing velocity could be achieved and provided a long section along the full sewer alignment.
