The brief

Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to prepare a Combined Flood Risk Assessment & Drainage Strategy and Transport Assessment to support a full planning application for the creation of 37 residential dwellings and associated infrastructure

What we did

The development was located within flood zone 2/3 and therefore our FRA reviewed Environment Agency flood risk modelling extracts and identified minimum Finished Floor Levels the development would need to utilise to safeguard it against fluvial flooding.

Our surface water drainage design utilised carrier pipes within the estate roads connecting with a proposed attenuation basin to accommodate all attenuation storage across the development, ensuring all flows could be controlled to the greenfield runoff rate.

As part of our Transport Assessment, we demonstrated proposed vehicle trips could be satisfactorily accommodated within the existing public highway network. We designed offsite highway improvements to improve connectivity of the development for all modes of transport. We also carried out technical checks of the masterplan including visibility / inter-visibility splays and vehicle tracking analysis.
