Private Drainage and External Hardstanding Detailed Design Package

Services offered

  • Private Drainage Detailed Design Services
  • External Hardstanding Detailed Design Services

The brief

Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to prepare a private drainage and external hardstanding detailed design package for a
development at Long Acre, Peartree Lane, Shorne, Kent where the existing dwelling was to be demolished and a new large dwelling
constructed. This included a partial basement along with driveway and external hardstanding area.

What we did

We proposed all existing drainage to be removed and replaced. We carried out soil infiltration testing in accordance with BRE digest 365
and found that the ground was suitable for infiltration.

Our drainage design utilised a full gravity approach to both surface and foul water. For surface water we implemented a full SuDS
drainage design, utilising permeable paving and a geo-cellular storage tank disposing of surface water via infiltration, accommodating the 100 year plus 40% climate change event.

For foul water, we used a biodisc treatment station, treating effluent before disposing of it via infiltration to the ground.

We worked in close collaboration with other design teams, to deliver a fully coordinated proposed external works and drainage design
solution for the client.
