SuDS Surface Water Drainage Strategy & Utility Assessment
Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to undertake a Drainage Strategy and Utility Assessment to support a full planning application for a mixed-use development consisting of 5 dwellings, office space and associated hardstanding area.
The drainage strategy consisted of permeable paving to all hardstanding areas as well as geo-cellular storage and green roofs to around 20% of the development. These measures ensured greenfield runoff rates and volumes were never exceeded and the necessary level of surface water treatment provided.
No public surface water sewers were within vicinity of the site so connection of surface water at the 1 in 1 year greenfield runoff rate for all events was agreed in principle with Anglian Water to their foul water sewer.
Our utilities assessment mapped all utilities within the vicinity of the site showing the site to be within excellent coverage of all major services with reinforcement works unlikely and minimal diversionary works necessary to facilitate development. This gave the client confidence as to what expenditure may be required as part of detailed design.
