SuDS Surface Water Drainage Strategy

Services offered;

  • Foul & SuDS Surface Water Drainage Strategy for planning Conditions Discharge
  • S106 Drainage Connection

The brief

Civilistix Consulting Engineers were appointed to undertake a drainage strategy to discharge 3no. planning conditions relating to drainage on this existing brownfield site to make way for 7no. proposed dwellings.

What we did

The site was naturally broken into 2 sub-catchments which we maintained as part of our proposed drainage strategy. Half the site discharged to a foul water sewer in which we obtained discharge consent for a controlled connection from the sewerage undertaker and Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and the remainder to a watercourse at the rear of the site.

The drainage strategy utilised a full SuDS approach including permeable paving to all communal hardstanding areas, filter strips and underground geo-cellular storage releasing flows at the QBAR runoff rate. These measures ensured greenfield runoff rates and volumes were never exceeded and the necessary level of surface water treatment provided.

The final drainage strategy was fully approved by the Local Authority first time round.
