Civilistix Consulting Engineers has excellent working relationships with many of the sewerage undertaker companies and strong knowledge of their requirements having undertaken a significant amount of adoptable drainage approvals. This expertise means nearly all our S104 technical design packages are accepted first time round.
We believe the key to achieving such high success rates is early communication with sewerage undertakers and other stakeholders such as the highway authority, so designs are created organically, and decisions arrived at together removing barriers later down the line.
Adoptable (S104) Drainage Design
When it is intended a new sewer or pump station will serve 2 or more land-owners, it is possible to get the sewer adopted by the local sewerage undertaker under a Section 104 agreement (S104) of the Water Industry Act 1991. Once adopted, the sewerage undertaker takes on all future maintenance of the sewer relinquishing the responsibility from the developer. For a sewerage undertaker to adopt a sewer under a S104 agreement, it needs to meet certain technical standards, typically defined within Sewers for Adoption design criteria.
